Utah's Mighty 5

Arches National Park

Outside Moab at the eastern edge of the Mighty 5, Arches packs more than 2,000 natural stone arches into one compact, otherworldly landscape - including the most famous rock formation in Utah, Delicate Arch.

A Landscape of Stone Arches

Arches has the densest concentration of natural arches on earth - over 2,000 catalogued - alongside balanced rocks, fins, and towering sandstone walls glowing red at sunrise and sunset. Highlights include Delicate Arch (the one on Utah's license plates), the Windows Section, Landscape Arch, and the Fiery Furnace. Most of the best-known formations are reachable by short trails.

Getting There & Timed Entry

Arches sits about a five-hour drive east of Zion, just outside Moab - too far for a day trip, but a natural far end of a full Mighty 5 loop. In the busy season (typically spring through fall), the park uses a timed-entry reservation system during daytime hours; check the NPS site and book ahead, or enter early or late to skip it.
